The Learning Tree - TLT Sonic Boom :
TLT's Sonic Boom is a project that exemplifies what music is here for: to give a purpose to your life. It's here to help you to express your feelings. Some music may have answers to questions you may have pondered. Music is here for an artist to give his philosophy on life and to write about what they've seen in their surroundings. Music is not here for our people to immerse themselves into calling our sisters bi*ch*s and our brothers n*gg*s. Today, many rappers and punk rockers love to talk about guns, clips, cars, whips, guns popped, people shot and blades switched. This is only a pat on the back of the downpressors of the society because this only proves their racist stereotypes correct. The slave masters that kidnapped our ancestors and brought them here enslaved said we were heathens, barbaric, and savage and many of our artists manifest that distorted view in the music that they produce. TLT's Sonic Boom is a project designed by The Learning Tree Cultural Preparatory's Middle School. The school's Boys to Man Rites of Passage program wrote and recorded these songs to acknowledge the empowering possibilities in music for Black people, provide a clear analysis of our present condition, give a vision for the musical potential of our generation, and continue our ancestors' struggle in the spirit of the righteousness of our struggle under The Almighty's universal principles of truth, justice and righteousness. We hope you will not only enjoy the songs, but also be inspired to carry on this noble struggle.
